Lehighton school board

Lehighton Area School Board took the following action Monday:

• Transferred $72,453.26 from the general fund to the food service fund for December 2020.

• Refunded occupational tax for years 2019 and 2020 in the amount of $122.50 each year to Gordon Scherer Jr.

• Approved the affiliation agreement between Lehighton and Albright College to provide experiential learning for education students for the 2020-25 school years.

• Approved the affiliation agreement between Lehighton and McCann School of Business and Technology for the 2020-23 school years.

• Approved the 2021 Lehighton Area School District Senior and Junior Class Prom at The Centennial Ballroom and Catering, Center Valley, on May 7, from 5-10 p.m., with COVID-19 mitigation precautions in place.

• Approved the Cintas agreement for the custodial staff uniforms, in the amount of $29.45 per week, funded by the building and grounds budget.

• Approved the lease agreement with Valley Royale LLC and Lehighton, for the use of its tennis facility at 738 Mahoning Drive E. for the spring tennis season.

• Approved Joseph Reed as a candidate for the 2020-21 substitute professional list, pending clearances.

• Accepted the intent to retire, effective the end of the 2020-21 school year, for Anita Stern, 12-month secretary, 15 years of service; and Hearth Andrew, cafeteria worker, 15 years of service.

• Hired Bradley Akers, full-time custodian, at an annual salary of $24,529.

• Moved the first reading of policies on trauma informed approach, sick leave, sick leave bank, and family and medical leaves.

• Accepted the donation of 10 new black and white, home-office style, Sharp printers from Fraser Advanced Information Systems, to be used throughout the district.
