Pa. reports 2,300 cases Thursday

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Thursday that there were 2,356 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 922,990.

There are 1,972 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 433 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of Thursday, there were 81 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 23,868 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local vaccine numbers

Carbon County reported Thursday that 4,114 people are partially covered, while 4,337 are fully covered.

Lehigh reported 29,650 partially, 30,588 fully.

Luzerne has 30,557 partially, 20,266 fully covered.

Monroe reported 7,059 fully, 6,474 fully.

Northampton has 28,678 partially covered, 24,208 fully.

Schuylkill reported 10,437 partially, 8,432 fully.

Pennsylvania residents ages 65-69 are most partially covered by vaccine to date. Ages 55-59 and 60-64, according to a DOH chart, are the age groups most fully covered.

By gender

• 197,146 male residents are partially covered, 360,570 are fully covered.

• 395,433 females partially covered, 517,397 fully covered.

• To date, of the 3,172,900 doses allocated through Feb. 27, Pa. has administered 2,147,135 doses total through Feb. 24:

• First doses, 83 percent (1,531,194 administered of 1,836,065 allocated)

• Second doses, 46 percent (615,941 administered of 1,336,835 allocated)

Local COVID-19 numbers

Carbon County reported 4,836 cases, eight more since Wednesday. One more death was reported for a total of 151.

Lehigh reported 30481 cases, 90 more since Wednesday. Deaths remain at 755.

Luzerne County reported 71 more cases since Wednesday for a total of 24,737. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 724.

Monroe reported 9,543, an increase of 23 since Wednesday. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 266.

Northampton reported a total of 26,549, an increase of 96. Five more deaths were reported for a total of 639.

Schuylkill County reported 11,977 cases, 24 more since Wednesday. Deaths remain at 367.

Nursing home and personal care homes

Carbon County has eight facilities with cases.

Lehigh reported 42 facilities with cases.

Luzerne County reported 49 venues with cases.

Monroe has 11 facilities with cases.

Northampton reported 39 facilities with cases.

Schuylkill reported 19 facilities with cases.
