Pa. reports 87,000 residents fully covered across six local counties

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that there were 2,830 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 917,848.

There are 1,963 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 418 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day is about 3,700 lower than it was at the peak on Dec. 25, 2020. However, the current 14-day average is just below what it was at the height of the spring peak on May 3, 2020.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Feb. 12 - Feb. 18 stood at 6.5%.

As of 11:59 p.m. Monday, there were 97 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 23,711 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local vaccine numbers

Carbon County reported Tuesday that 4,382 people are partially covered, while 3,853 are fully covered.

Lehigh reported 30,153 partially, 28,470 fully.

Luzerne has 32.010 partially, 19,845 fully covered.

Monroe reported 7,675 fully, 5,557 fully.

Northampton has 28,469 partially covered, 22,298 fully.

Schuylkill reported 10,417 partially, 7,551 fully.

Pennsylvania residents ages 65-69 are most partially covered by vaccine to date. Ages 55-59 and 60-64, according to a DOH chart, are the age groups most fully covered.

Local COVID-19 numbers

Carbon County reported 4,818 cases, 18 more since Monday. Three more deaths were reported for a total of 149.

Lehigh reported 30,315 cases, 85 more since Monday. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 748.

Luzerne County reported 50 more cases since Monday for a total of 24,593. Six more deaths were reported for a total of 720.

Monroe reported 9,488, an increase of 53 since Monday. One more death was reported for a total of 263.

Northampton reported 65 more cases for a total of 26,356, an increase of 148. One more death was reported for a total of 632.

Schuylkill County reported 11,936 cases, 34 more since Monday. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 367.

Nursing home and personal care homes

Carbon County has eight facilities with cases.

Lehigh reported 42 facilities with cases.

Luzerne County reported 49 venues with cases.

Monroe has 11 facilities with cases.

Northampton reported 39 facilities with cases.

Schuylkill reported 19 facilities with cases.
