A 20-year old woman died in a two-vehicle crash with a sport utility vehicle on Route 443 in West Penn Township Thursday.

Schuylkill County Coroner David J.Moylan III said deputy coroner Andrew Szczyglak pronounced Marlena Ann Direnzo dead at the scene.

A supervisor with the Schuylkill County Communications Center said the 11:10 a.m. crash just past the intersection with Mantzville Road.

“Weather could have been a factor,” Moylan said, because it was raining when Szczglak arrived on scene after being dispatched around noon.

He said occupants of the SUV were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital- Lehighton.

A virtual autopsy is scheduled for noon Saturday to determine the cause of death.

West Penn Township are investigating. A phone call to police was not returned.
