There are more cases of COVID-19 at the Schuylkill County Prison.

To date, Doreen Kutzler, interim human resources director, said through Tuesday three staff members and 15 inmates have tested positive for the virus.

All three staff members were symptomatic. Of the inmates, eight were symptomatic while seven were not, she said.

“The county of Schuylkill’s prison is carefully monitoring the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As with any type of emergency situation, we carefully assess how best ensure the safety of staff, the inmates and the public,” Kutzler said.

Additional information was not provided.

The first case of COVID-19 was diagnosed in November. The inmate has since recovered, Warden David Wapinsky said previously.
