Man charged with assaulting woman, threatening her with knife

An Albrightsville man has been charged with assaulting a woman and threatening her with a knife.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper Joseph Richards of the Fern Ridge state police barracks in the case against Jason Garcia:

A woman came to the barracks to tell police she was assaulted by Garcia, 22, at her residence on Tapuco Drive, Penn Forest Township.

The woman said Garcia came to her residence and they got into an argument.

She said that Garcia then slammed her against the couch and struck her multiple times in the head with his fist.

Then she said Garcia went into the kitchen and got a knife and threatened her by holding it against her neck.

The woman said she then got away from Garcia and attempted to leave when he grabbed her out of the car and slammed her against a tree, then pushed her to the ground and choked her.

Garcia was taken into custody and charged with simple assault; aggravated assault; terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another; harassment; and disorderly conduct - engage in fighting.

He is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 23 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
