Friday update: 6,808 more cases reported

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Friday that there were 6,808 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 295,786.

There are 2,952 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 659 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between November 13 and November 19 is 393,010 with 40,122 positive cases. There were 54,209 test results reported to the department through Nov. 19 at 10 p.m.

Local numbers

Carbon County reported 1,008 cases, an increase of 29 since Thursday. Deaths remain at 40.

Lehigh County 9,453 cases, an increase of 270. The death total is 376.

Luzerne County reported 7,966, an increase of 230 cases. Deaths remain at 243.

Monroe County reported 2,782 cases, an increase of 54. One more death has been reported, which brings the total to 138.

Northampton County reported 7,472 cases, an increase of 161 cases. Two more deaths have been reported for a total of 326.

Schuylkill County reported 3,240, an increase of 65. Five more deaths were reported, which brings the total to 149.
