Carbon County Nonprofit Forum begins
The Carbon County Community Foundation, in partnership with the United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley, invites area nonprofit and public sector professionals and volunteers to register for the free 2020 Carbon County Nonprofit Forum taking place later this month. Held annually, this event offers attendees knowledge and skill-building resources, as well as the opportunity to network with civil leaders and fellow nonprofit and public sector representatives.
Because of COVID-19, the Carbon County Nonprofit Forum has shifted this year into a virtual gathering. The event will be hosted with a different program each day; attendees can choose to participate in all or some of the event free of charge. Interested attendees should register for the event via the Carbon County Community Foundation website: www.cccfoundpa.org.
“We’re so pleased to be able to offer the Nonprofit Forum this year in a socially distanced, online space,” said Sharon Alexander, President of the Carbon County Community Foundation. “Our speakers will be sharing information that is especially relevant now when so much has shifted because of COVID. Participants should plan to come away from this event with tips and resources on fundraising and storytelling, collaboration, and promoting diversity and equity within their organizations.”
“Here in Carbon County, as many as 40% of our families are facing serious financial instability. We can only rebuild and recover by working together to support our neighbors. That’s why we’re so honored to partner with Carbon County Community Foundation to bring our nonprofit community together for four days of learning and collaboration,” said Marci Lesko, Palmerton resident and Executive Vice President of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
The schedule includes:
• Wednesday, 9-10:30 a.m.: “Using Data to Show Impact and Tell Your Story” a panel discussion with Matt Cordes, Owner & Principal Writer of WritingWorks Ltd.; Rachel DeMicco, Library Programs Director at Palmerton Area Library; and Laura McHugh, Associate VP of Communications at United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley
• Thursday, 1-2:30 p.m.: “Alternative Fundraising: Pivoting Away from In-Person Events” presented by Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center
• Friday, 9-11 a.m.: “Choosing the Path for Racial Equity in the Nonprofit Sector” a workshop presented by Erica T. Mahady, Organizational Consultant & Executive Coach for Illumination Consulting Partners
Descriptions for each program and presenter bios can be found on the Carbon County Community Foundation website.
Attendees will also receive a digital event program book and a copy of the 2020 Carbon County State of the Child & Family report produced biannually by the Carbon County Collaborative (formerly the Carbon County Interagency and Family Collaborative Board).
