Mauch Chunk Museum to hold events

The Mauch Chunk Museum and Cultural Center in Jim Thorpe has announced the following events for the upcoming holiday season. The museum is located at 41 W. Broadway.

Art nights

Arts and Culture Nights at The Ballroom: “Radical New Beginnings,” will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday.

Tours of the museum will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. Live entertainment will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. nightly. Performers include Tara Crowe and Michael Muffley tonight; The Black Ties and Pearls on Friday and Settled Arrows on Saturday.

In addition, there will be an artist showcase by Will Heffner from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today and the display ends at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are general admission and available at the door.

Holiday shopping

One Stop Holiday Shop at the ballroom in the museum will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The event is a holiday pop-up shop with crafters and vendors. The event is free to the public.

In addition, The Black Ties and Pearls will be caroling from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 30.

A train display by Bob Lippi will be set up on Dec. 1.

Christmas events

Olde Time Christmas in Jim Thorpe will be held throughout the town Dec. 7 and 8, 14 and 15 and 21 and 22.

The museum will have a Kids Club featuring crafts, entertainment, train display, a place to warm up and story time with Mrs. Claus and pictures with Santa.

In addition, the museum is also hosting its third annual Christmas Tree Spectacular display and contest. Contestants will set up and decorate Christmas trees and the public can vote on them during the festival.

New Year’s Eve

“Ring In 2020 with The Bees Knees” will take place from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. There will be refreshments, dancing and more. There is a cost to attend.

In addition, there will also be a Kids Club for school-aged kids whose parents are attending the event. The club will include games, movies, crafts and more.

All proceeds from the event help the museum.
