LCCC to honor veterans during awareness week

This year Lehigh Carbon Community College will continue the “Faces of Honor” tribute.

Banners will be displayed in the Student Union at the Schnecksville campus.

LCCC students, faculty, staff and alumni can submit photos of themselves and/or family members who are currently serving or have served in the military to be included on the banners. Photo submissions will be accepted through today and must meet certain criteria.

Digital images can be submitted electronically by completing the form at www.lccc.edu/foh.

The “Faces of Honor” will be on display at LCCC’s main campus during normal operating hours Nov. 11-14.

A Veterans Day flag ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the flagpole outside the Student Services Center. Staff, students, area veterans and members of the community are encouraged to support the college’s veterans and participate in this event.

The week will conclude on Nov. 14, with the LCCC Foundation and Veterans Club third annual LCCC Military Bingo Night. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo will begin at 6 p.m. in the Community Services Center at the Schnecksville campus. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Those with a military ID will receive a free hot dog and receive three special games.

Tickets may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/militarybingo.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go to Women Veterans Empowered and Thriving, a nonprofit organization located in the Lehigh Valley designed to reintegrate women veterans utilizing writing and performance workshops. Additionally, two $500 Veteran/Military Scholarships will be awarded to LCCC veteran or military students, dependents or spouses for the upcoming spring 2020 or fall 2020 semesters.
