October 23, 1948 — Tamaqua collects over 500 yards of offense and receives touchdowns from five different players to gain a 35-6 victory over Lansford. The Blue Raiders, coached by Fred Greham, gain 464 of their yards on the ground. Bob Brode, who also intercepts a pass on defense, opens the scoring with a 3-yard TD run. Steve Comisac extends the lead when he completes a 70-yard march with a 1-yard touchdown. Ed Titus then reaches the end zone from 10 yards out, before the margin widens on a safety when Pete Pruett blocks a punt out of the end zone. Tamaqua caps the scoring with a 1-yard run by Maneth Gravell and a 60-yard burst from Dan Tolan.
