LV wins Carpenter Cup opener

Lehigh Valley downed Suburban One National/Bicentennial in Carpenter Cup action on Thursday.

Lehigh Valley opened up play in the Carpenter Cup Classic with a 10-7 win over Suburban One National/Bicentennial.

Benjamin Stokes (triple), Zech Lambert and Brittain Shander (double) had two hits apiece for Lehigh Valley, while Evan Marushak tripled and drove in three runs. Palmerton’s Ryan King had a hit and an RBI for LV, while Ben Serfass saw time at third base.

Lehigh Valley will play the winner of today’s Delaware County-Delaware South game Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Colin Binder and Jared Joyce each drilled home runs to power Jim Thorpe to a 10-9 win over Bethlehem Catholic.

Binder and Joyce both finished with four RBIs in the win, while James Lordi also collected two hits and Spencer Hunsicker tripled and scored twice.

Drew Frank got the final seven outs to preserve the win for Jared Marykwas.
