Carbon office adding online filing system

A new electronic system will help court-appointed guardians file necessary reports in Carbon County later this year.

Carbon County Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans’ Court Jean Papay announced this week that her office is implementing a new online filing system, the Guardian Tracking System, which will be available to the public for the purpose of providing court-appointed guardians of incapacitated adults more flexibility.

A computer will be available in Papay’s office in the courthouse for guardians to file reports through the new system beginning Sept. 12; or they may do so from their personal computers.

Papay said guardians currently file their paper reports through the court system.

“This will help them submit the paperwork without having to come into the courthouse and be able to do it at their convenience when time would allow and not have to bring them into the courthouse when they are completed,” she said.

The electronic system was created by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.

Beginning Sept. 12, Papay said 2018 paper forms will no longer be accepted in her office and court-appointed guardians must use GTS.

An informational webinar is available on DVD for guardians to learn about the Guardian Tracking System. Guardians may pick up the DVD at Papay’s office during business hours.
