One dead in Route 309 crash

A young Schuylkill County man is dead, and at least one other person seriously injured, following a three-car crash Wednesday morning along Route 309 in West Penn Township.

Township patrolman Anthony Houser said the incident occurred at 9 a.m. when a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by Nicholas Sadusky, 19, of Mary D, was traveling south at a high rate of speed in the area of 309 and Blue Mountain Drive when it attempted to pass two vehicles in the northbound lane and sideswiped a Silver Toyota Corolla and went head on into an Audi Wagon.

Sadusky was pronounced dead at the scene, Houser said.

Houser said the driver of the Audi was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, while the driver of the Silver Toyota was transported to St. Luke’s Miners for evaluation.

Neither of their identities was known as of this point, Houser said.

Route 309 was shut down for nearly three hours over the Blue Mountain, he said.

Houser said West Penn Township, New Ringgold, and New Tripoli fire departments, along with Penn-Mahoning EMS, Mahoning Valley EMS, and Lehighton medics assisted at the scene.
