Veterans group hosts fishing trip

Project Healing Waters will be hosting another fishing outing at the Indian Mountain Rod and Gun Club this Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"This stream always fishes well for us, and the members of Indian Mountain are very generous and gracious hosts," Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing's Heide Marie Cebrick said.Project Healing Waters started in Washington, D.C., where members of Trout Unlimited and the International Federation of Fly Fishers wanted to help military personnel who had been injured or affected during their service through the calming hobby of fly-fishing. It is now a nationwide initiative that helps active wounded military members and disabled veterans Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals across the country, introducing them to the physical, mental and spiritual healing afforded by fly-fishing.The group will depart from the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre at 10 a.m. The Western Pocono Women's Club will serve lunch at the event.Volunteers who are willing to meet at the medical center and potentially bring any veterans to the event are encouraged to contact Cebrick at 570-709-0140.
