This week Tamaqua Borough Council:

• Approved the Tamaqua Fire Police's request to hold their Rubber Duck race on the Little Schuylkill River onJune 18. They also approved a request from Girardville for the fire police to provide assistance during that borough's annual St. Patrick's Day parade.• Approved a request from the Salvation Army to hold their fourth annual Kidz Karnival to coincide with National Night Out on Aug. 1. The event will be held in the North Railroad Street parking lot, from 2 to 7 p.m.• Received a request from James C. Frie to fill a position on the board of health. More information was requested from the applicant.• Approved a request from Safer Streets for Tamaqua's Little Feet to hold their second annual Candle Light Walk to help raise awareness and educate the community about drug abuse and overdose awareness. The event will be held on July 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Bungalow Park. The actual walk will commence at 8 p.m. The walk is open to the entire community.• Renewed the service agreement with Billy O'Gurek for the borough's website service agreement.• Approved a handicap parking space for 244 Mauch Chunk St.• Hired Adrian Bumbulsky as the pool manager and Matt Stanek as the assistant pool manager for the 2017 season.
