NCC offers free Manufacturing Certification Course

Northampton Community College is offering an accelerated manufacturing training program for those who have struggled to attain consistent employment or education.

Beginning this month, the Micro-Credentials in Manufacturing program will aid students for entry-level positions in the manufacturing Industry.This noncredit program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Education Training Administration and features five courses that allow students to earn stackable credentials to transition to a job or to continue learning in a credit program. The courses will cover multiple aspects of the manufacturing industry including assembly, quality inspection and operator positions.The training is free to participants who meet eligibility requirements including: must be able to work legally in the U.S., be 18 or older, and must have at least an eighth-grade-level English and math ability. No high school diploma or GED is required for the program.Information sessions will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday at PA Careerlink, 555 Union Blvd., Allentown, and noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday throughout January and February at Northampton's Fowler Family Center, 511 E.
