CCTI board holds reorganization

The Carbon Career & Technical Institute's Joint Operating Committee held a reorganization meeting Tuesday.

Chad M. Obert was appointed as a board member representing the Weatherly Area School District, for a term lasting through December 2019.Yeakel was elected as the chairman, with Gerald Strubinger elected as vice chairman. Wayne Gryzik was elected as a temporary chairman. Monthly meetings were confirmed for the following year for the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.During the regular meeting, the board accepted letters of appointment for alternate representatives as follows:• John Ciavarella, Jim Thorpe Area School District• Stephen L. Holland, Lehighton Area School District• Joshua Smale, Palmerton Area School District• Irene Genther, Panther Valley School District• Brian O'Donnell, Weatherly Area School DistrictThe board accepted Duane Eidem to represent the Lehighton Area School District for the Carbon Career & Technical Institute Authority, for a term lasting from January 2017 to January 2022.The board appointed Jim Thorpe Area School District Superintendent Brian Gasper to the position of Superintendent of Record for CCTI for 2017, effective Jan. 19.The board approved the following people as members of the CCTI Local Advisory (participatory planning) Committee for the 2016-2017 school year:Franklin Andreas, Philip Binder, Ron Blisard, John Drury, Ron Fritz, Francine Garenty-Kluck, Kathy Henderson, Marlyn Kissner, Diane Luicana, Toni Macaluso, Candy Madera, Todd Mason, Jaime Mendes, Jeanne Miller, Bill Richards, Joseph Sebelin, Rachel Strucko, and Gary Wentz.Michele Dominic was appointed as a teacher/mentor for LT Graphic Design at a prorated stipend of $750.William Bravo was appointed as an extra help instructor for the Monday after-school program for a rate of $25 per hour on an as-needed/scheduled basis.Michele Dominic and Autumn Frey were appointed as assistant instructors on an as-needed basis for the Adult Education Nurse Aide Program, through Dec. 20, 2017.Lisa Wargula was appointed as a part-time GED Enrollment Specialist, pending clearances, at a rate of $10.50 per hour. The position is grant-funded and will not incur a cost to CCTI.Brandon Poole was appointed as assistant to the director of technology for a maximum of 28 hours per week, at a rate of $20 per hour.Cosmetology instructor Lisa Wal's salary was increased by $600, bringing her 2016-2017 adjusted salary to $54,881.The board approved two professional service agreements:• Adult Education Site Supervisor Heather L. Mullen's agreement is effective Jan. 15, 2017, through Jan. 14, 2018, for $24 an hour, between 30 to 35 hours per week.• Part -time Assistant to the Director of Technology Brandon Poole's agreement is effective through Dec. 20, 2017, for $20 an hour, at a maximum of 28 hours per week.Administrative Director Dave Reinbold was approved for enrollment in a Bridge English as a Second Language course at a cost of $260.
