Now that renovations are almost finished on Schuylkill County Children and Youth Service agency's new offices, commissioners on Wednesday hired a company to keep it clean.

TKO Cleaning Services of Pottsville will be paid a total of $86,400 over three years to keep the building at 324 N. Centre St., Pottsville, sparkling.TKO was the sole bidder for the contract. They payments break down to $ 27,600 for next year; $28,800 for 2017; and $30,000 for 2018.In May 2013, commissioners acquired the 21,000-square-foot former Empire Beauty School and two adjacent lots on May 2013 for $740,000 from brothers Dale and Franklin Schoeneman.In October 2012, the county floated a $21 million bond issue to fund building projects; $2.6 million of that was earmarked to buy and renovate the building.Also on Wednesday, commissioners approved a $11,615 contract payment to Hudson Energy Services, Suffern, New York, to supply energy to the courthouse from Sept. 28 to Nov. 24.Hudson supplied the energy after Investment 360, the new owners of the former county nursing home, switched providers after closing the $10 million sale.Trouble was, Commissioners Chairman Frank J. Staudenmeier said, that the courthouse was also on the contract. The contract now applies only to the nursing home.Commissioners also renewed an insurance policy with Midwest Casualty Company for excess workers' compensation costs from Jan. 1, 2016 to Jan. 1, 2017.The annual premium will be $96,283, down from this year's $107,514.The county is saving $11,231 over last year's premium cost due to an 11 percent decrease in payroll from the sale of Rest Haven, the former county nursing home.In other matters, commissioners approved a $30,000 contract addendum with Vintage Tech of Plainfield Illinois.The is for the service provided in the original contract and represents the full and final satisfaction of all obligations of the agreement.Vintage Tech collected unwanted electronics as a part of the 2015 annual fall cleanup.Also, commissioners approved a final payment of $22,898 to Talen Energy Marketing, formerly known as PPL Energyplus, for termination of a retail natural gas contract dated June 15, 2011.Commissioners also approved a mutual release of both parties of any and all claims regarding the final payment to Sodexo and affiliates in the amount of $24,894.The release is from a 2012 contract and a March 1 addendum.In other matters, commissioners reappointed District Judge James Reilly of Pottsville and Mary Labert of McAdoo to three-year terms on the Office of Senior Services advisory board.They also reappointed five people to three-years terms on the Retired Senior Volunteer Program advisory board. The terms begin Jan. 1.They are Debra Herring of Schuylkill Haven, Joanne Plaxa of Auburn, Rae Thompson of Pottsville, Norma Corse of Pottsville, and Janice Johnston of Community Volunteers in Action, Pottsville. Their terms also begin Jan. 1.
