The Western Pocono Lions Club has two reasons to smile. The Pleasant Valley Middle School Peace Poster winner, Alexis Thomas, also won the Lions District 14 U competition. Alexis is 14 years old and an eighth-grader at Pleasant Valley Middle School.Sharing peace is the greatest world power, Alexis used as her quote on the theme of the 2015-16 Peace Poster competition which is Share Peace.The club is waiting to hear how Alexis did in the state competition.Zion SeniorsThe group will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church's Fellowship Hall in Brodheadsville.PTO meetsThe Pleasant Valley Intermediate School PTO has scheduled a meeting for 5 p.m. Thursday.The PAC meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday has been canceled.Altar & RosaryOur Lady Queen of Peace's Altar & Rosary meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafe. It will include a visit with Santa, food, crafts, Christmas store for children and a Christmas pageant by Blessed Beginnings Preschool.All are welcome.Winter WanderLocal naturalist, open space advocate and Pocono Heritage Land Trust Stewardship Director Don Miller will lead a free Welcoming Winter Wander in the Big Woods Preserve from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Winter preparations from leaf drop to migration and hibernation to nature's plans for the spring to come will be explored in this leisurely guided interpretive nature walk in the woods as part of the Parks for Good Living Poconos series of outdoors events and activities.
