Defendants in pending theft-related cases entered guilty pleas before Judge Joseph J. Matika in county court this week.

Andrette Louise Haupt, 56, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on Oct. 7 at Redner's Warehouse Market by Nesquehoning police for taking merchandise valued at $18.53.Matika noted the conviction is her eighth for theft. She is currently in the county prison on a probation violation and is facing similar charges in two other counties.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Jennifer R. Stefanick, 21, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on May 22, 2014, by Lansford police for an incident at the Family Dollar Store on East Patterson Street in which she took merchandise valued at $2.25.She is currently in the county prison on a probation violation and was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked.She admitted to a heroin addiction.Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered she get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use and not go into the Family Dollar Store. She will remain in custody on the probation violation charge.Heather Louise Plieth, 26, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property and a summary offense of driving under suspension. She was arrested on Oct. 21 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. She was charged with the theft of $79.99 worth of merchandise. A charge of retail theft was dropped.Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store. On the summary offense she was fined $200 and costs.Mark Joseph Dacosta, 34, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of theft and criminal trespass. He was arrested on Feb. 20 by Mahoning Township police for taking a chain saw belonging to a Hemlock Drive resident.He is currently in prison on other charges.Matika sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison with credit for 61 days on both counts, running concurrently. He was also ordered to make restitution to Neeb for $460, render 75 hours of community service when released from custody, have no contact with Neeb, get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, and supply a DNA sample. He was granted work-release privileges.Tara Marie Good, 40, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count each of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Oct. 6 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store for taking $42 worth of merchandise. While being taken into custody, the drug paraphernalia was found.Sentencing was deferred.Heather M. Getley, 29, of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested on Sept. 27 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store for taking merchandise valued at $303.90.Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to pay restitution of $9.98, a half share for the items not recovered as there is a co-defendant in the case; render 50 hours of community service; and stay out of the store.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
