Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission is one approval closer to having a new executive director.

Last week, the Carbon County Commissioners voted to approve the recommendation by the commission's board of directors to appoint Jamie Drake to the position of executive director for the commission. Drake has been the acting director of the commission since Aug. 25.Drake said that all three counties need to approve the appointment before anything becomes official.Commissioners' Chairman Wayne Nothstein said that he was very pleased to endorse Drake to that position because he felt she is a good fit.Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard added that Drake, who has been employed by the commission for over 20 years, has already been "moving the agency in a good direction."In other matters, the commissioners acted on the following items:• Reappoint Barbara Green of Lehighton to the Industrial Development Board. This is a five-year term to Dec. 31, 2020.• Approve the resignation of Erica M. Stout of Schnecksville as a county caseworker II, Children and Youth Services, effective Dec. 31.• Approve a leave of absence extension for Robert J. Blisard of Albrightsville, deputy sheriff, from Nov. 17 to Dec. 16.
