Not surprisingly, a good many players did as they took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather on Friday.About 70 golfers took turns swinging their nine irons on the clear, green fairways at Blue Shamrock Golf Club in Palmerton as temperatures hovered around the 60-degree mark.On Dec. 11. With nary a flake of snow on the ground.The mild weather represented a perfect opportunity for Sung Lee of Stroudsburg to brush up on his game."I'm just taking advantage of the weather," Lee said.Lee, who golfs about once a week on average, said he couldn't be happier."It was a long winter last year," he said. "There's no snow, temperatures are near 60, so why not?"Club member Ron Derksen of Schnecksville couldn't agree more.An avid golfer, Derksen said he plays about three times a week."I wish it would stay this way all year round," Derksen said. "It's (Blue Shamrock) a pleasant place to come up and play."With temperatures expected to be even warmer today and tomorrow, it's a near certainty the golf course will be fuller than usual this time of year.More than 80 golfers were expected on the course today, according to general manager Tim Nagle."It's nice to see people getting out of the house and enjoying the nice weather," Nagle said. "We just hope that everybody has a great, safe, wonderful holiday."
