Members of the congregation and vestry of St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Jim Thorpe are solidly united in their plans to file an appeal with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The congregation is against its reported decision to transfer its state store location from Fourth and Center streets on the east side of the community to the site of the former Jim Thorpe Auto Supply building at 34 Susquehanna St.The Rev. Joseph K. Hammond Jr., rector of the Episcopal Ministry of Jim Thorpe, announced the protest will be based on PLCB regulations which prohibit the sale of alcoholic beverages within close proximity to a church structure. Attorney Michael Garfield has been retained by the church to file the appeal.
