Safe Haven Pet Rescue will hold a Dog Meet & Greet day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Ace Hardware, Route 209, Brodheadsville, next to Dunkelberger's.Many young dogs available for folks to meet and get to know. That meeting begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday.Women's ClubIn December, as members do monthly on the second Wednesday of the month, the ladies of the Western Pocono Women's Club will hold a cookie and juice social at Getz Personal Care Home.The club will hold its annual Christmas Party/ December Club meeting on Tuesday at the Lakeside Restaurant in Saylorsburg.The party signals the end of monthly club meetings until March 21. While the monthly meetings may not be held, WPWC is a very active women's service club. They continue to clip coupons for the military, make quilts for Quilts for Kids, go monthly to Getz Personal Care Home and volunteer to help out in various ways in the community.State programThe Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is leading the Disaster Planning for Historical Properties Initiative in Monroe County over the next year. Staff are currently in the data collection phase, which requires survey teams documenting older structures within the flood plains through the county.On Tuesday and Dec. 9, residents should be aware that the field survey teams will be wearing fluorescent vests and have identification badges on them in the event there are any questions.Sign up for alerts at the Monroe County Emergency Management website at
