A Schuylkill County man, formerly of Lansford, was sentenced to a Carbon County prison term for violating one of the conditions of Megan's Law.

Christopher John Vogel, 32, of Minersville, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 10 to one day less 24 months in prison on a charge of failure to comply with registration of sexual offender requirements. Vogel previously pleaded to the charge.Vogel was arrested by Lansford police on June 1 after borough police were informed by state police of Vogel's failure to register as a sexual offender because of a conviction of sexual assault as defined in Megan's Law.Vogel claimed he lost his job and had been looking for work and put the registration requirement on the "back burner." He told Matika, "I take full responsibility for what happened."In addition to the prison term Vogel must supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and render 75 hours of community service when released from prison.Vogel is currently serving another term which runs out on Jan. 1, 2016. The new sentence will run concurrent to that term.
