There's no coincidence that just when Jimmy's Gym in Lehighton closed, work on Spillane's FIT began.

The new gym opened this week at the former variety store on Delaware Avenue in Palmerton.Mark Stemler, the owner of Jimmy's Gym, said he sold most of the equipment to the owners of Spillane's FIT. Crews began moving the equipment from one location to the other on Sept. 14.The new gym facility will be complete with showers, tanning salon, workout areas for classes, a coffee/smoothie bar and free child care for members."This is a better facility," Stemler said. "(The Spillane's store) was a better fit."Stemler said that he anticipates that there will be special packages for Jimmy's Gym members.
