A Lansford man was sentenced to a county prison term on Tuesday after previously admitting to drug dealing.
John Dominic Ferko III, 30, was sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass to serve one day less 12 to one day less 24 months in prison. He previously pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested by agents of the Attorney General's office in the 700 block of East Bertsch Street in Lansford after he sold 30 bags of heroin to a confidential informant. A search of his vehicle at the time resulted in 74 more baggies being found.Ferko's attorney, Nicholas Quinn, said his client has gone through a rehabilitation program but admitted he did not complete it, spending 36 days in the program. He also spent another six days in a detox program.Serfass said he would not give him credit for the rehab time because he did not complete it. He also said 120 days spent in a halfway house will not be credited against his sentence.Serfass also ordered Ferko to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, supply and DNA sample, render 100 hours of community service when paroled, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole. He was given credit for 22 days spent in prison on the charge and will begin the term on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
