Carbon County court - DUI cases
Five defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted pleas from the following:Scott Michael Kelly, 38, of Effort, was arrested on March 15 along Long Run Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Kelly could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Michael Anthony Beseda, 33, of Sugar Notch, Luzerne County, was arrested on July 31, 2014, by state police at Lehighton along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township.A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass sentenced him to serve 72 hours to 6 months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and render 25 hours of community service. He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Friday.Todd Lawrence Zimmerman, 46, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 12 by state police at Lehighton along Park Street in Weissport. A test showed 0.25 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Zimmerman could obtain a D&A evaluation.Jesus Rolon Sr., 35, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 8 along Iron Street by Lehighton police. He also pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-heroin, which was found on him at the stop.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Tadeusz Teddy Gjondla, 52, of Whitehall, was arrested on May 13 at Forest Street and Long Run Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.17 BAC.He was sentenced to serve 48 hours to 6 months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. Nov. 6.
