Carbon probation revocations

A Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika on Friday revoked the probations of five people.

Probationrevocations:Robert Charles Ahn, 35, Lansford, attended his hearing via live video from the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning. Matika revoked his probation because Ahn violated the terms by using a controlled substance.Matika sentenced Ahn to six to 12 months in jail, with credit for 23 days, as recommended by the Adult Probation Department. He also is required to abstain from using drugs or alcohol. He will be furloughed into a long-term treatment program.Brian Churchill, 38, Kunkletown, failed to perform his required community service and to pay the costs of his supervision. Matika sentenced him to three to six months in jail, but gave Churchill until Nov. 2 to make up the 50 hours of service and $800 in payments, as recommended by the Adult Probation Department. If he does, he won't have to do the time.Robert Lee Clifford III, 21, Lansford, failed to report to his probation officer, absconded from the place he had promised to live, and failed to provide drug screenings. Matika sentenced him to 28 days to six months in jail, with 28 days' credit, as recommended by the Adult Probation Department. If he violates the terms of his probation again, he'll have to serve the balance of his original sentence.Marie A, Caruso, 51, Summit Hill, also attended her hearing via live video from the prison. She violated the terms of her probation three times by drinking alcohol. Matika sentenced her to three to six months in jail, with 37 days credit, as recommended by the Adult Probation Department.Sara Hargreaves, 26, Nesquehoning, failed to complete mental health treatment, take parenting classes and perform 50 hours of community service. She has since completed the treatment and class, and as of Friday had only to finish 4.5 hours of service. Matika gave her until Aug. 10 to do that. If she does, he will vacate her sentence of 50-100 hours in jail.
