Three Jim Thorpe elementary teachers who had a total of 117 years of service to the Jim Thorpe Area School District were honored by the Jim Thorpe Teachers Association on their retirement from teaching duties.

Thelma Eckhardt, Mary Klein and Margaret Strunk were the guests of honor during a dinner program held at the Stoney Creek Hotel, Penn Forest Township.They received gifts from the Teachers Association in honor of their long and faithful service to the school district.Mrs. Arthur B. Lesher, president of the association, was the toastmaster for the occasion.
