A Tamaqua area man was cited after he was caught red-handed stealing from a motor vehicle.

A Tamaqua Police officer was on patrol at 1:10 a.m. March 8 when he saw a man getting out of the driver side door of a gray Geo that was parked on Nescopec Street. The man had a small flashlight in his hand.He was stopped and identified as Anthony Louis Kehl, 45, of 27 Tuscarora Park Road in Tamaqua. Kehl admitted the car wasn't his and that he had removed $12.64 from the vehicle. In addition to the change, officers found a syringe in Kehl's pocket when they performed a search of his person.He was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
