Three arrested in local drug sting

Mahoning Township police reported on several drug arrests made as part of a narcotics investigation conducted on Wednesday.

Officers from Mahoning, Lehighton, and East Penn Township were conducting the investigation as members of the Carbon County Drug Task Force which targeted the sale of heroin.During operations the following people were arrested and jailed in Carbon County Correctional Facility.Casey Kreiger, 28, of Lehighton. Kreiger was apprehended during a transaction where he sold 10 bags of heroin.Kreiger was transferred from task force custody and arraigned on a warrant issued by Jim Thorpe Police.At the time of his arrest, Kreiger had nine additional active arrest warrants in Luzerne, Northampton, Schuylkill and Carbon counties.He has an arraignment pending for charges filed by the task force.Kreiger faces charges of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.Raymond Larue Sitler, 24, of Lehighton, formerly of Berwick, and his girlfriend Zoey Bartenope, 18, of Lehighton, were apprehended during a transaction where Sitler sold 50 bags of heroin in the presence of a 16-year-old.Bartenope was found in possession of another 50 bags of heroin, and over $500 in cash.Sitler had an active warrant from the Reading branch of the state board of probation and parole.The two were arraigned by District Judge Edward Lewis in Jim Thorpe, and placed in Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 each.Sitler has been charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal conspiracy-possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies, and the misdemeanors unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and corruption of minors.Bartenope is charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal conspiracy possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Tyler Meek, as part of the investigation a deal was made to purchase 50 bags of heroin from "Fresh," as Sitler is known. police contacted Sitler via text to his cellphone to arrange the deal, which was to have taken place at 140 N. Fourth St. in Lehighton.At about 3:15 p.m., Sitler arrived at the address with a 16-year-old boy. Sitler had the heroin with him and was taken into custody. He told police he had come from 519 Coal St. in the borough.Task Force officers went to that address and spoke with Bartenope.She surrendered $580 she said Sitler gave her. She waived her Miranda rights and agreed to talk with police.During the interview, Bartenope pulled 50 bags of heroin and $11 from her bra. The bags matched those Sitler had had with him.She gave police a written statement that "Ray went to walk to meet a client and handed me his heroin and he said put it away and I quick put it in my bra."Bartenope gave police permission to look at her phone, and in Facebook messenger they found conversations involving narcotics transactions.Sitler was taken to the police station and given his Miranda rights.He waived them, and told Meek he went to the Lehighton address to sell heroin.Details of Kreiger's involvement were not immediately available early Thursday.
