Defendants enter guilty pleas

Defendants entered guilty pleas on Tuesday before Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Chaun James West-Samaroo, 21, of Northampton, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded to two counts of defiant trespass in two separate incidents in Lansford.He was charged for an incident on Sept. 11, 2014, in the area of 401 E. Bertsch St., and on Sept. 29, 2014, in the area of 835 E. Ridge St. In both incidents West-Samaroo was previously told he was not welcome or allowed at those two residences.West-Samaroo is currently serving a prison term for a probation violation which runs through May.Matika placed him on probation for a year on each count, concurrent, and ordered him to render 50 hours of community service, and have no contact with the victims at both residences.Darnell K. Bushell, 29, of Brooklyn, New York, pleaded to one count of access device fraud.He was arrested on Aug. 8, 2014, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop. Bushell was a passenger in the vehicle.Following a consent search troopers found 38 altered credit cards. The driver of the vehicle was also charged and previously pleaded guilty. The cards were not used and were confiscated by police.Matika placed Bushell on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.John Joseph Radjavitch Jr., 29, of Freeland, pleaded to one count of unsworn falsification to law enforcement.He was arrested on Sept. 29, 2013, by Weatherly police in the area of 203 Third St. Police said Radjavitch attempted to purchase a rifle at a gun shop in the borough and lied on the questionnaire when it asked if he had ever been convicted of a crime that could have involved a prison term. Nine years earlier Radjavitch had pleaded to two misdemeanor counts which could have resulted in a jail term.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to perform 50 hours of community service.Ricky Lee Christman, 24, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct.He was arrested on July 19, 2014, along East Ridge Street by Lansford police. Police stopped a vehicle Christman was a passenger in for suspected drunken driving. Christman became unruly and refused to stop yelling at officers after being warned.Matika told Christman that his prior record score is growing and future arrests could mean prison time.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Crystal Fenstermaker, 42, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of false alarms, unsworn falsification to law enforcement, and false reports to law enforcement.She was arrested by Lansford police on Sept. 12, 2011, for an incident in the area of 328 E. Abbott St. Police responded to a report of a hit and run with a pedestrian. The pedestrian was Fenstermaker's daughter.The hit and run never occurred, but Fenstermaker told officers it did and made a statement to that effect. She was previously placed in the ARD program but was revoked from it.Matika placed her on probation for a year on each count, running concurrent, and ordered her to get a mental health evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
