A look at the cameras

The Tamaqua Police Department will soon be wearing body cameras provided by VIEVU, a company that touts itself as the leading provider of police body-worn cameras.

Tamaqua's officers will be wearing the LE3, a rugged, waterproof unit that is small, lightweight and self-contained.The size of a pager, it can be easily worn on the officer's uniform and comes with 16GB of non-removable, internal storage.Designed by "cops for cops," it simplifies operations with a simple lens slide cover that acts as an on/off switch for easy activation. The unit also offers the officer the ability to review videos on a mobile computer in the field. It is easily integrated into existing video systems, such as the one currently used by Tamaqua Police, through highly secured software known as VERIPATROL.Kathy Kunkel
