Receiving stolen property charge filed

A Nesquehoning woman has been charged with receiving stolen property.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith has charged Susan V. Karley, 49, of 127 W. Catawissa St., Apt. 2, with taking a diamond ring belonging to Jaquelyn Heydt, who also has an apartment in the same building.The ring was reported missing Sept. 16. Through the course of an investigation Smith learned that Karley was the cleaning woman for the apartment building and had a key to enter all the apartments in the building.Police also noted they had investigated other report thefts in the same building.Heydt also told police that on Sept 18 she received a call from Karley stating the missing ring was in her mailbox and she should come and take it.Smith responded to the apartment building and found the ring in the mailbox noted. Smith interviewed Karley on Oct. 18 and the charges were subsequently filed.
