Burglary, theft incidents probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported on a burglary and theft incidents investigated by troopers.

The break-in occurred at 260 Russell Court, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The home was entered sometime between Dec. 29, 2013, and May 24. Removed was a 32-inch Sharp HD television. The home is owned by Mark Anthony Albano, of Staten Island, New York.Troopers said two tires mounted on steel wheels were stolen from a roadway construction site along Route 902 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. The theft occurred sometime between July 11-14. The stolen property is owned by New Enterprise Stone & Line Co., of New Enterprise, Bedford County.A theft by deception incident is also under investigation.Troopers said a person called P&R Petroleum of Sciota, Chestnuthill Township at 2:35 p.m. on July 10 and identified themselves as an employee of Western Union.The suspect told personnel at the victim's store that the Western Union machine in the store had to be updated. Instructions were followed as given by the suspect.Immediately after hanging up, the employee called Western Union about the call and was advised that the store was a victim of fraud and the amount of $881.49 had been transferred to the person who made the call.
