Women's 5K raises money for cancer prevention project

The Blue Mountain Health System received $15,000 from the Women's 5K Classic Grant Committee for its 2014 Women's Cancer Prevention/Early Intervention Programs and Projects.

Each year, the health system holds a variety of programming to raise awareness about women's cancer prevention and early intervention, namely free screening mammograms and if necessary, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds for women who are under- or non-insured. This year nearly 150 mammograms and ultrasounds were provided to women in the BMHS community.Since 2002, the Women's 5K Classic has appropriated nearly $175,000 to the health system and more than $2.1 million in grants to worthy programs in the Greater Lehigh Valley since 1993.
