Ode to a saxophone

The Elegy

of a SaxophoneTrapped, I am filled with darknessCold, rusty, dead, heartlessI have lived my Golden AgeNo longer will lights reflect off of me on the stageBattered and BruisedMy mirror of skin was overusedI used to emulate a cheering crowdReflecting the stage as I bowedI've had a good runMy shabby appearance clearly shows I am doneIn the past my brass coat shinedBut in the dark case I am now confined. This poem was written by Maddie Lowe, a 10th grade student at South Jefferson High School in Adams, N.Y.Maddie is the daughter of Lt.
