Three-vehicle accident in Kline Township

Three drivers were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle accident on SR309 in Kline Township late yesterday afternoon. Emergency responders were called to the top of the Mile Hill, at the intersections of Lofty Road and Plant Road, just before 3 p.m. for a report of a multivehicle accident with injuries. The accident, which involved a commercial van, minivan and sport utility vehicle, sent all drivers to the hospital. Township police reported that a white Chevrolet commercial van, driven by Christian Madera of Hazleton, was stopped on SR309 south to turn left onto Plant Road when the front end of a red Chrysler van, driven by Betty Weinburger of Tamaqua, impacted the back of the van, causing the van to spin counter-clockwise and collide with a red Jeep Cherokee Sport, driven by Hans Vanlierop from Schnecksville, which was sitting at the stop sign on Plant Road to turn onto SR309. Responding in addition to township police were firefighters from McAdoo and Hometown. Also responding were Hazleton and McAdoo ambulances.
