Voter polling place changed in Rush Twp.

A voter polling place was relocated in Rush Township in action taken by the Schuylkill County commissioners in a recent work session held at the courthouse in Pottsville.

Approval was granted to Election Director Frannie Brennan to move the Rush Township, Elixir District polling place from the old school house located at 16 Holly Road, Barnesville, to the Rush Township Municipal Bulding, 104 Mahanoy Avenue, beginning with the Municipal General Election to be held on Nov. 6.Other businessFour bids were opened at the recent work session with a Tamaqua firm as one of the bidders. The bidding was on two county bridges in Tremont Borough. The bidders were:Reading Materials Inc., of Skippack, bid $14,305.50 on the bridge on Line Street and Main Street, $18,331.50; Schuylkill Paving Inc., Schuylkill Haven, $17,017 for Line Street bridge and $18,637 on Main Street bridge; Barletta Materials and Construction Inc., Tamaqua, $19,448 on Line Street and $24,300 on Main Street; and EJB Paving and Materials Co., West Lawn, $32,637 on Line Street and $32,637 on Main Street. The commissioners will decide on awarding the contracts at their public meeting next week.On behalf of the adult probation department the commissioners renewed the contract with Isecuretrac Company.John Richmond, head of the probation department, said this is a three year contract with lower daily rates than the current agreement of $12 per day and includes a sliding fee scale lowering rates based upon the number of units in use. The system is used to monitor defendants placed on probation under house arrest with electronic monitoring.
