6 students praised by council

Their level of activities and achievements is off the charts.

But, rest assured, the six Palmerton Area High School students celebrated by Borough Council on Thursday are far from one-hit wonders.Accompanied by their parents, seniors Brianna Bush, Amy Hudock, Erika Hudock, Tyler Snyder, Laurel Seemiller and Courtney Getz were recognized with a resolution for their activities and achievements.Council vice president Jason Behler said the students were chosen for the acclaim by high school administrators. Councilman Richard Nothstein said that some of their parents were former students of his several decades earlier. Also on Thursday, council agreed to apply for a recycling grant that would provide new containers for homeowners to dispose of their recyclables.Borough Manager Rodger Danielson said the borough will file an application, which he said will probably be approved later this year, though the money will likely not be available until next year.Danielson said the containers would be "for home use to try and keep people recycling."
