Representatives of Franklin and Mahoning Townships, Weissport, and Lehighton met with members of the Lehighton Recreation Commission and A. William Pharoah, director. The purpose of the meeting was to advance information to the surrounding areas of Lehighton and the districts which comprise the Lehighton Area Union School District concerning a recreational program for the entire area. The present recreation members are appointed by Lehighton Borough Council and is comprised of representatives of council, school board, and a member at large.
