MMI students' photos appearing in Drexel contest exhibition

Two students at MMI Preparatory School have each had a photograph selected to appear in the Drexel University High School Contest Exhibition.

The photos by senior Alexandra Baran, daughter of Richard and Maxine Baran, Sugarloaf, and junior Hannah Lesitsky, daughter of Neil and Julie Lesitsky, Albrightsville, are on display during the exhibition at Drexel University's photography gallery in Philadelphia running until March 4. An opening reception for the exhibition was held Feb. 2.This is the third consecutive year that Baran has had a photograph selected for the Drexel Photography High School Contest Exhibition. She won second place in the 2010 contest.Out of 1,825 entries, only 140 images were chosen to be exhibited.The Drexel University High School Photography Contest is open to all high school students throughout the United States. Baran's photo, "Erupt," and Lesitsky's photo, "Escape," were selected from among thousands of photos, including black and white, color, silver prints, digital prints and historical processes. The Drexel University Photography program supports students in the discovery of their own unique photographic vision and style, leveraging a mix of aesthetics and technology, of creativity and technique.
