Military veterans of Jim Thorpe were honored during a recent ceremony conducted by the Jim Thorpe Little League players.

Veteran Al Van Osten tossed out the first pitch of the little league game to catcher Chris Condly.

Condly then handed the ball to Van Osten.

There were 10 veterans who took part in the program. They are, besides Van Osten:

Al Helmer, Jack Kmetz, Francis O'Donnell, Joe McGorry, Tom Nanay, Robert Sluck, Richard Rhode, Kenneth Dorne, and Cliff Hurley.

Jim Thorpe Mayor Michael Sofranko praised the Little League Association for the program.

The mayor declined an offer to speak, stating, "It's about the veterans and it's about the Little League."

"I think it's a show of class," said Sofranko. "It's great they're doing it."
