Speaker will address Tamaqua students on youth cultural issues

Jon Pritikin, founder of "Feel the Power," a program addressing bullying and peer pressure, will address elementary and middle school students in the Tamaqua Area School District next Monday and Tuesday.

Pritikin will be addressing students on the benefits of good character and will be sharing his compelling and adventurous story of how he overcame a speech problem, childhood hardships, and being bullied. Jon encourages students to be kind to one another and warns them about the harm in bullying and disrespecting each other.Students will enjoy Pritikin's presentation and feats of strength, as he bends metal pipes and rolls up frying pans like a burrito. He currently holds the title for such feats in the "2009 Guinness Book of World Records." The official record is "The tightest circumference of two aluminum frying pans rolled together with his bare hands in less than 30 seconds".Pritikin's message addresses current youth cultural issues and encourages students to overcome life obstacles, work hard, and never give up. This relevant and inspiring message was booked through the National Character Education Foundation through the cooperative efforts of the Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, the West Penn Elementary PTO and the Tamaqua Area School Districts.
