District wins tax appeals on 18 properties

Eight property owners in Barnesville, Ryan Township, were among 18 property owners in the boundary of Mahanoy Area School District who will be paying more taxes in 2013 under rulings made by the Schuylkill County Assessment Appeals Board.

The school district filed appeals presenting testimony to show the property owners' market value and assessments were greater than currently assessed. The school district was able to add $393,041 to its assessment value of properties in the district.The appeal hearings are being held in the Schuylkill County Courthouse.Rulings were made on properties as follows:Branden and Amanda German, 15 Fourth St., Lakewood Gardens Subdivision, Barnesville, Ryan Township, market value was increased from $7,450 to $16,780 and assessment from $3,725 to $8,350, increasing the assessment by $4,665 on which the taxes are determined.John F. Hubosky, 44 Bernhard Road, Barnesville, market value increased from $83,310 to $97,800 and assessment from $43,155 to $48,930, an increase of $5,775 in assessment.Justin and Rebekah Koval, 65 Foothill St., Barnesville, market value increased from $142,300 to $163,098 and assessment from $71,150 to $81,550, an increase of $10,400 in assessment.Timothy S. Kelly, 24 Grier Avenue, Barnesville, Rush Township, market value increased from $64,380 to $93,198 and assessment from $32,190 to $46,600, an increase of $14,410 in assessment.Ryan Township Emergency Rescue Squad, 9 Third Avenue, Park Crest, on property located at 848 Barnesville Drive, market value increased $82,260 to $111,844 and assessment from $41,130 to $55,920, an increase of $14,790 in assessment.Christopher J. Rohde, 612 State Road, Barnesville, market value increased from $59,363 to 116,504 and assessment from $29,680 to $58, 250. an increase of $28,570 in assessment.John and Andrea Gutsie, 9 Plantation Drive, Phase II, Magnolia Gardens Subdivision, Barnesville, market value increased from $134,283 to $186,404 and assessment from $67,140 to $93,200, an increase of $26,060 in assessment.Patrick and Theresa Kissane, 468 State Road, Barnesville, market value increased from $92,420 to $165,428 and assessment from $46,210 to $82,715, an increase of $36,505 in assessment.Gary C. Kysick and Michael P. Davis, Collegeville, owners of a tract of land containing 18.0187 acres on south side of South Apple Street, Lakewood Park Estates, LLP Subdivision, Ryan Township, market value increased from $13,850 to $254,300 and assessment from $6,925 to $127,150, an increase of $120,225 in assessment.Gary J. and Beverly M. Macek, 39 Meadow View Drive, Barnesville, market value increased from $117,327 to $193,484 and assessment from $58,665 to $96,740, an increase of $38,075 in assessment.Kenneth F. and Beverly Rebert, 401 Church Street, Barnesville, market value increased from $107,275 to $126,755 and assessment from $51,640 to $63,380, an increase of $11,740 in assessment.Kimberly Blackwell, 18 Crest Street, Barnesville, market value increased from $38,650 to $39,146 and assessment from $19,325 to $19,575, an increase of $250 and on a lot containing 0.14 acres on which stands a garage the market value was increased from $10,970 to $18,644 and assessment from $5,485 to $9,320, an increase of $3,835 in assessment.Ronald and Elaine Souchak, 200 E. Centre St., Mahanoy City, market value increased from $105,040 to $121,164 and assessment from $52,520 to $60,580, an increase of $8,060 in assessment.Gary J. and Lana C.
