Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on several crashes investigated on Schuylkill County roadways this week.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 7:47 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, along SR501 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Larry Paul Krammes, 57, of Pine Grove, was driving a 1993 Dodge Intrepid northbound and attempting to negotiate a left hand curve when he hit ice, coming out of the curve causing him to lose control.

The car crossed into the southbound lane and onto the berm where it struck several trees, spun 360-degrees, and came to rest back in the northbound lane against the guardrail.

Krammes was not injured. Damages were disabling to the vehicle.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 9:40 p.m. on Monday along SR924 in West Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Joan M. Thomas, 25, of Pottsville, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound when she lost control. The car crossed over both northbound lanes and struck a dirt and rock embankment along the berm.

After impact the car flipped over coming to rest on its roof.

Thomas and her passenger, Corina M. Whah, 18, of Mahanoy City, were both taken to the SMC-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said. She was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Troopers investigated a crash about 3:10 p.m. . on Tuesday, Jan. 24, along SR901 at the intersection with Buery's Road, in Barry Township. Troopers said Clair C. Wolfgang Jr., 75, of Lavelle, was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 truck eastbound on Buery's Road and approaching a stop sign at the intersection, while June M. White, 65, of Cressona, was southbound driving a 2009 Pontiac G6.

Wolfgang stopped at the intersection and pulled out to turn left but collided with White and a collision occurred.

Wolfgang and White were injured and taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Troopers cited Wolfgang for duty at a stop sign.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in which the driver fled the scene but was lager located. Troopers said Jonathan V. Murphy, 34, of Pottsville, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G5 eastbound on Seltzer Road, in Norwegian Township, at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road.

The car went onto the berm and traveled about 186 feet before crossing over the westbound lane and onto the berm where it struck a culvert. After striking the culvert the car traveled about 100 feet crossing the center line of the road and then struc k a dirt embankment which propelled the car into a tree.

Murphy fled the scene but was later found.

He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, troopers said.
