Monroe driver facing charges

A Monroe County driver is facing multiple charges following a chase and standoff incident. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident began about 2:59 a.m. on Sept. 30 along SR940 in Pocono Summit.

Officers on patrol observed a vehicle being operated without a license plate. A traffic stop was made and the driver later identified as Kevin Gleixner, of Long Pond.At the stop officers observed a handgun between the front seat and middle console. Police seized the gun and at this point Gleixner fled in the vehicle toward Blakeslee.Police deployed stop sticks in the area of Brady's Lake which deflated the tires on the car. But Gleixner continued to drive until he reached the entrance to Locust Lake Village where he stopped the car.At this time Gleixner placed a handgun to his head while in the car. Police negotiated with him for about an hour until he put the gun down and was taken into custody. Found in the car was a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun on the back seat. The gun was found to be stolen.Gleixner was charged with one count each of felon not to possess a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, fleeing and eluding police, reckless endangerment, receiving stolen property and summary offenses.
