Marian High School presents "Seussical, the Musical"

Marian Catholic Senior Class presents "Seussical, the Musical" tonight and Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m.

"Seussical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertude McFuzz, Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination-JoJo."Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination, as the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whoos. The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge not only must he protect his tiny friend JoJo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird.Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart."Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.Cast members in "Seussical" include: Cat in the Hat, Jess McKinley; Boy/JoJo, Connor Schleicher; Horton, Eric Petterson; Mr. Mayor, Joe Meier; Mrs. Mayor, Tori Vadyak; Gertrude, Rosey Sheridan; Mayzie, Katie Collevechio; Sour Kangaroo, Rebecca Smulligan; General Ghengis Kahn Schmitz, Grant Francis; Grinch/Yertle, Sean Crosby; Young Kangaroo, Alexa Nemeth; Bird Girls/Fish, Abby Burkhardt, Cathleen Cataldo, Mary Connors, Hilary Furmanchin, Emily Nerino, Maria Oberto, Ashley Shumski and Christine Valente; Citizens of the Jungle/Cadets, Sean Crosby, Taylor Mele, Katie Mongi, Lydia Stianche, Tierney Sugrue and Tyler Zawatski; Cadet #1, Tierney Sugrue; Wickersham Brothers, Brandon Dopira, Gino Kociolek and Justin Petrovich; Vlad Vladikoff, Tyler Zawatski; Cindy Lou Who, Kathleen Reilly; Who Child #1, Laura Cinicola; Who Child #2, Kristina Czwakiel; Whos/Circus Members, Nina Arant, Laura Cinicola, Kristina Czwakiel, Kaycee Gutsie and Mike Moran; Max the Dog, Mike Moran; and Elephant Bird, Virginia Franks. The production staff includes: Judith A.
